Once inserted, the needle activates a mechanism that regulates (reduces) the amount of histamine and bradykinin in the blood. These are substances that cause inflammation and pain during chronic or acute injury.

Energy (Qi) circulates through the body through a series of pathways called meridians, such as blood vessels. It is not unusual to get significant relief after just one treatment. Often with severe pain, 2-4 treatments over 1-3 weeks are usually required to achieve optimal pain relief effects. For chronic pain, 1-2 treatments per week for a longer period of time are usually necessary.
