HAND WASHING
Hand washing is the simplest, most economical and important procedure for the mechanical removal of dirt and reduction of transient microorganisms of the skin. Hand washing requires common soap, preferably LIQUID, should be done vigorously with a duration of not less than 15 seconds; it is better to perform it at the time and place where the patient care is performed (patient's room).
How to wash your hands?
*Remove the watch, rings and bracelets.
*If you wear long sleeves you should lift them up to the height of your elbow.
*Wet hands vigorously with water.
*Use water and antimicrobial soap Liquid.
*Friction the entire surface of the hands, between fingers for 10 to 15 seconds; reaching up to 10 cm below the folds of the wrists.
*Emphasize the washing of nails, preferably natural nails should be short and without enamel.
*Rinse with plenty of water.
*Dry your hands with disposable paper towels.
*When you turn off the faucet, use the disposable paper towel to avoid recontamination.
*Considerable time for good hand washing is 40 to 60 seconds.
