The government has made a big announcement on vaccination amid growing Corona cases. Now from May 1, everyone above 18 years of age will be able to get the vaccine. The government has also decided that the companies making the vaccine will go to their 50% supply center. They can supply the remaining 50 percent to state governments or sell it in the open market.
All adults can get Covid shots and states can buy doses directly from vaccine-makers in the "liberalized and accelerated Phase 3 strategy of COVID-19 vaccination", the government said, on a day the country reported 2.73 lakh new daily cases in the highest spike since the pandemic broke out a year ago.

Registration through COVIN will be required for vaccination as before. According to the order issued by the government on 19 April, the new policy will be implemented from 1 May 2021 and it will also be reviewed as per the requirement.
This will be the strategy for the third phase
- Corona vaccine will be free in healthcare hospitals, frontline workers, and all the age of 45 years in government hospitals.
- States will now have the right to take additional supplements directly from vaccine-making companies.
- States can decide whether to open vaccination for people above 18 years of age or by creating a category.

- The government will encourage vaccine manufacturers to increase production.
- Vaccine manufacturers will be able to sell 50 percent of their total supply capacity at the previously announced prices in the state governments and the open market.
- Vaccine manufacturers will be able to supply their 50% vaccine to the Center and the rest to the states and the open market.
Vaccine companies will have to declare the price of vaccines supplied in the states and the open market before May 1.
