BASIC- SENSEX AND NIFTY SENSEX:
Sensex, also called as BSE 30, is that the market index consisting of 30 well-established and financially sound companies listed on Bombay stock market (BSE).
• 30 companies are selected on the idea of the free float market capitalisation .
• These are different companies from the various sectors representing a sample of huge , liquid and representative companies.
• the bottom year of Sensex is 1978-79 and therefore the base value is 100.
• It is an indicator of market movement.
• If Sensex go up, it means most of the stocks in India went up during the given period. If the Sensex goes down, this tells you that the stock price of most of the main stocks on the BSE have gone down.
For example, suppose the Sensex is 26,000 today. If Sensex drops to 25,950 tomorrow, it means the bulk of the 30 companies economic condition isn't good i.e. their share price is falling.
NIFTY:
NIFTY 50 is that the National stock exchange of India's benchmark stock market index for Indian equity market. Nifty is India Index Services and Products .
• the bottom year is taken as 1995 and therefore the base value is about to 1000.
• Nifty is calculated on 50 stocks actively traded within the NSE
• top 50 stocks are selected from 24 sectors.
The Sensex and Nifty are both indicators of market movement. If the Sensex or Nifty go up, it means most of the stocks in India went up during the given period.
With reference to NIFTY and NSE, we will say that:
• If Nifty goes up, this suggests that the stock price of most of the main stocks on NSE has gone up.
• If Nifty goes down, this tells you that the stock price of most of the main stocks on NSE has gone down.

List of Maharatna and Navratna Companies in India
Currently, there are 10 Maharatna companies, 14 Navratna companies in India and 73 Miniratna companies divided into Category 1 and Category 2. The Department of Public Enterprises is the nodal department of all Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs). The CPSEs may be classified as Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) or State Level Public Enterprises (SLPEs).
Public Sector Units may be classified as Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), Public Sector Banks (PSBs) or State Level Public Enterprises (SLPEs). CPSEs are administered by the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) is the nodal department for all the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs). DPE formulates policy regarding CPSEs.
